Singer, Eshun has said the acceptance of Patapaa kind of music by Ghanaians and the music industry is killing real talents in Ghana.
According to her, Ghanaians always prefer the same way of doing things and that makes it difficult for other artistes with different styles to penetrate the system easily.
Eshun who was speaking in an interview on Accra-based Zylofon FM said “Ghanaians are used to one style of music, the Patapaa and kind of songs are what is in vogue. This kills talents of musicians who want to try new styles”.
She, however, noted that most artistes in the country have been forced to follow the trend because that is what is accepted in the country and people who divert from it are left on their own.
Eshun mentioned that as artistes, it is imperative to do what the masses crave for so that when you get accepted, you can chip in your own style.
“However, I believe if one follows the trend for a while to make their name, they can chip in their main style. Efya did it and it worked out for her.”
