The Member of Parliament for Lawra who is also the deputy minister of Roads and Highways has donated Eigty-five (85) bags of sugar to be distributed to all the Muslim communities in the municipality as part of him and the NPP government’s commitment to supporting Muslims particularly during periods of Ramadan.
The donation which is the second for Ramadan and many in this year was done on separate occasions in the various muslim communities on his behalf by the constituency NASARA Coordinator Mahamood Abdul-Mumin to support and facilitate their spiritual activity and ask for prayers for the development of the municipality and the constituency at large
Speaking on behalf of the Member of Parliament, Abdul-Mumin said the significance of Ramadan in praying for Lawra and its development underpinned this support for Muslims in the municipality as they make amends with Allah.
“Ramadan in Islam is the period where Muslims fast and ask for purity. It is also the time when Muslims pray for God’s intervention in the activities of men in the municipality.
The imams who received the items on behalf of their respective communities expressed gratitude for the kind gesture.
