Following the Invitation of the Asantehene to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, many Ghanaians have expressed mixed reactions. In light of this, PK Sarpong, a popular writer for the ruling NPP has asserted that, the Asantehene symbolizes everything Ghanaian culture. He is of the view that, it should bind us together and not to separate us.
“Otumfuor Osei Tutu II has been invited by King Charles III to grace Queen Elizabeth’s funeral with his presence.” PK Sarpong wrote on his official Facebook page on Friday, 16th September 2022.
To some of us, we are over the moon with this since it signifies the importance of the Golden Stool and its occupant even beyond the shores of Ghana. He remarked.
You say you don’t see it as a big deal, that’s up to you. We say it is a very big deal to us and for that matter, we are happy about it.
You are telling us not to celebrate it or be happy about it because you don’t see it as a big deal! What kind of logic is this? So you don’t see it to be important and that means we shouldn’t also see it as important and cannot celebrate it? Who told you you determine how we should see this? P.K Sarpong quizzed.
He ask people to give one cogent reason why we should not see this as a big deal. Your response is that it dovetails into your so-called mental slavery nomenclature.
So it is not mental slavery for you to come to Facebook to write thesis, a platform that belongs to the slave master?
It is not mental slavery for you to use Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google, etc when you know that they are owned by the so-called slave masters.
You are using an iPhone, Samsung, Pixel, Huawei, Oppo, etc which are all manufactured by the same people you are describing as slave masters.
Even the clothes you have attired yourself in are imported from the slave master. You have abandoned your Kente clothing for the foreign ones.
You eat rice not grown here but in the countries of the so-called slave masters. What sort of logic are you pushing? Admit it, it’s pure envy. You hate the fact that the invitation was extended to the Asantehene and not your preferred traditional leader.
“Be happy for others for once. We are all Ghanaians. The Asantehene symbolizes everything Ghanaian culture. That should bind us together. Your reason for hating this invitation is not sound at all.” He added.
