Reports reaching Mdk Banahene all the way from England, London to be precise have it that, the Chelsea Football Club (The Blues) have sacked their Manager who won them the UEFA Champions League just last year. Chelsea and Manager, Thomas Tuchel, have parted after the Blues were beaten 1-0 in their Champions League opener to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday evening in Croatia and a slow start to the Premier League campaign. The match in Croatia was Thomas Tuchel 100th game in charge for the blues but unfortunately, proved his last. According to reports by the team owners who just took over 3 months ago, Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, the decision to part ways with the 49 year old Thomas Tuchel, is not based on last evening game with Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia but rather, it was something that they have been debated over it for sometime now as whether he will be able to manage the kind of players in the club now.
Chelsea have lost their opening game in the UEFA Champions League to Dinamo Zagreb and have won 3 out of 6 Premier League matches with 1 draw picking 10 out of 18 possible points. Rumours reaching Mdk Banahene suggest that, Graham Potter, the Brighton manager, is the early favorite to become the next Chelsea manager after Thomas Tuchel‘s sacking.
A club statement this Wednesday morning read and I quote;
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the club would like to place on records its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the club. Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here. As the new ownership reaches 100 days since taking over the Club and as it continues its hard to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition. Chelsea coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach. There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made.”
IS IT TOO EARLY?
