President Akuffo-Addo has assured the people of Ghana that his government will work to bring relief to them amid the current economic difficulties.
Despite the current difficulties, the president says his administration will never give up on restoring the economy and bring it to the path of growth and prosperity.
Ghana is currently experiencing an economic crunch with rising debt levels, inflation rate coupled depreciation of the country’s currency which is crumbling against the major foreign exchange.
Additionally, the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) has also announced new tariff increments with electricity going up by 27.15 per cent while water will also be increased by 21.55 per cent, covering 2022 to 2023.
This has obviously brought untoward hardship to the people of Ghana with many businesses suffering as a result.
Government officials have always maintained that the country’s economy is suffering due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine War.
‘’The Akuffo-Addo government has not thrown its hands up in despair at this development. We are determined to bring relief to the Ghanaian people, and return the economy back to the high rates of growth that characterized the management of our economy in the three (3) years preceding the Covid outbreak in 2020”, President Akuffo-Addo assured.
