The major connective structure from one place to the other locally is road. Good roads contribute to massive development of a country for which the government has declared this year as the year of roads.
Just last week, Parliament accepted the proposal of government to grant the 750 million dollar syndicated loan which was mainly proportioned for roads. The list of the roads to benefit from the loan has been released and works are yet to commence.
Some months ago, the government abandoned the collection of road tolls which made many road users and Ghanaians in general happy. The reason for this decision was not made known however, some inclined personalities in politics have marked it to be a political winning strategy ahead of the polls in 2024.
The Finance minister, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta has made it clear in his mid year budget review has made it clear to the genealogy public the intention of government to bring back the road tolls on all newly constructed roads so as to balance the expenses. This measure will help government stock the monies used for the project so as to reduce the debt stock of the country for it is currently in the pipeline to secure another loan.
