In the Ashanti Region, students at the Adventist Senior High School in Bantama have revealed that they bring their own breakfast items to the dining hall for breakfast.
Students claim that they are no longer provided with full meals at lunch times.
Some kids of the school complained to Elisha Adarkwah, Class FM’s Ashanti Regional Correspondent, on Wednesday, 13 July 2022, about the school’s failure to provide them with full meals.
Students have been requested to bring their own sugar and bread or any other item they would want to accompany their meal since the school can’t give them with anything else.
If you want kenkey, you must bring your own shito; if you want gabeans [gari and beans], they only supply the beans without oil so we have to bring our own gari for lunch.”
To help the pupils, she pleaded with the authorities.
‘I beg of you, the administration, to come to our rescue.’” My stomach hurts since I don’t have any food,” the youngster said.
As one male student put it, “The tom brown we had in the morning had no sugar in it. You’ll need to bring your own sweetener. Since the second semester of Form 1, we haven’t had bread.
“Some parents are not giving their kids with food with the understanding that they’re being fed at the dining hall, but that is not the reality. When they run out of food, they’ll have to travel to other schools for more,” the school administration said.
The terrible quality of the meals we are offered has forced me to purchase food, according to another female student.”
My stomach was in knots yesterday after eating the kenkey we had. As a result, the kids have requested that the government provide food to the schools so that they may feel less of an impact.
