The 2024 general election of Ghana is about a year and half away from now but the tension and pressure which is emerging now, tells how the event is going to be like in 2024. Looking at how things are turning up in the National Democratic Congress ( NDC ), it’s looks like the former President John Dramani Mahama will be leading the party in the 2024 general elections, he seems to be the people’s favorite and the person who has more audience as at now in the party.
But one thing which isn’t for sure is who will be backing him to contest the race as a Vice Presidential candidate. In the 2020 elections, he appointed Jane Naane Agyemang as his vice which many thought contributed to the defeat of the NDC, others also blamed the defeat on the campaign messages the NDC carried out to the masses. One question which many people in the political space are asking is, will John Dramani Mahama still appoint Jane Naane as his vice?
Even before this question one thing we should ask is, is there any other person in the NDC party who will be able to command numbers and convince Ghanaians to vote for the NDC? How will the delegates receive the new appointee should John Mahama appoint a new person. This is a very crucial decision to make because a new person can either divide the party and it members, or unite them.
Do you think Jane Naane still has what it takes to push to Ex President John Mahama to win the seat?
