Mr Sullemana Seidu, the Akatsi South constituency NDC organizer and his deputy Mr Edem Nasser have petitioned the Volta regional chairman of the party over alleged violation of procedures leading to the registration and distribution of party identity cards in the constituency.
According to them, some executives are doing their possible best to suppress other people’s right to vote in the constituency elections.
They added that it all began with the uploading of existing names of branch register into the party national database which they alleged Mr Daniel Dagba, the constituency secretary did alone without consulting any other constituency executives.
They stated that they later requested for the printout of the uploaded name to ensure all members at the branch level had their names registered since it is done at their blindside, but their call fell on deaf ears.
“We made this request at an executive meeting held on March 7, 2022 to deliberate on the digital membership ID replacement exercise.
“Since then our request received no objective at the meeting whilst we were expecting due process to follow after the executive meeting,” they added.
The two also explained that further information they gathered indicates that national headquarters have provided about one thousand five hundred (1,500) cards for distribution to some party members within the constituency whilst the printout of the uploaded register have to be sent together with the cards.
According to them, the mobilization team was formed to oversee the distribution of the cards on Monday, March 17, 2022, but their findings show that there was no card for distribution which Mr Daniel Dagba, the constituency secretary has to answer.
They also accused Mr Dagba of giving the party cards and register to non-party members for distribution to all branches which their investigations and findings show that, no branch within the constituency have received either the register or at least 9 ID cards.
“We can not ascertain if the branch executives have received the cards or whether the names of members of the party have been accurately uploaded, a situation that gave us a great concerned,” they intimated.
They claimed to have reported the case to the constituency chairman but he seems helpless in addressing the matter.
They are now calling on the regional executives and the chairman to intervene to prevent many party faithful from been disenfranchise in Akatsi South constituency since the register would be used in their internal elections.
The two party constituency executives said this in a letter dated March 18,2022 to the Volta regional NDC chairman.
