The entire world woke to the news about the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in the early hours of today. The incident, however, eventually took place after months of warnings by the aggressor country.
Russia’s threat of Ukraine began when it started sending troops to its border since late last year. And the act has been triggered since the Russian government felt uncomfortable with Ukraine’s movement towards the European Union (EU) and the Western Military defensive group known as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). It will be recalled that in June last year, the authorities of NATO announced the interest of Ukraine to join the military group. They went on to reflect on its right, as a sovereign nation, to be able to decide its path without foreign hindrance.
However, President Vladimir Putin of Russia has been complaining that Ukraine has made his country unsafe due to its affinity with its enemies. As a result of this, he adamantly stands his grounds against Ukraine’s membership of NATO, albeit the group’s leadership which includes America and the United kingdom (UK) keeps insisting that the embattled country has the right to join any association of its choice as an independent nation.
Besides external supports, the govermment and people of Ukraine have vowed to rssist Russia, saying that they are no part of Russia, and that they can not be bullied around.

At this point in time, what happens next if despite the invasion, the Ukrainians stand their grounds that they will not be cowed by Russia; and that they will not renege on their decision to join NATO?
What will Putin do next? Will he continue to bomb Ukraine?
A few hours ago, a Twitter user took to his account, and twitted how a Ukraine-based friend of his told him on the same platform that the Russian Soldiers in Kharkiv gave them one hour to surrender, or they would make rash decisions against them.
Judging from the foregoing tweet, is it likely or possible that Putin will order that the entire Ukraine be obliterated?
Well, it is not only Russia and Ukraine occupying the Earth. Even before the former invaded the latter, key western and NATO countries such as America and the UK kept warning Putin that they would respond forcefully in retaliation. This implies that it is only a matter of time before Russia is resisted.
However, before it gets to that extent when things will get out of hands, it is highly hoped that a level playing ground will have been reached, and peace will be given a chance like the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, had earlier admonished the rampaging Russia.
