Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, has revealed a good news for all Senior High Students in the country.
Speaking on GTV’s morning program the ‘Breakfast Show’, Dr. Adutwum revealed that, as part of the new common core curriculum for Senior High School, SHS students in the country, would be made to do Internships.
Dr. Adutwum, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency stated that, bringing companies into the high school Curriculum, such as Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), will aid in the curriculum development; and that, the internship is necessary to help address the unemployment rate in the country.
The Member of Parliament further stated that, the aim of bringing industry into education is for students to be trained for companies. “A number of times, companies tell me they don’t have people. The matchmaking is so intense, It’s so critical that we match..so the companies know the talents that are in the country. Invariably there’s this disconnect. Companies are complaining that they do not have the critical minds to run the company and students are crying that we don’t have jobs”.
Do you believe this initiative from the Nana Addo/Bawumia led government will help solve unemployment in the country?
