Cecilia Marfo, the gospel singer, has been trending on social media for murdering the queen’s vocabulary, with some netizens even copying her words.
There have been several viral recordings of the singer singing some well-known English praise hymns, but her pronunciation of the phrases has led to speculation that she doesn’t know the words because all of the songs are well-known and can be performed by children.
Cecilia Marfo said in an interview on Accra’s Okay FM that while she’s in the spirit world, she always sings English songs.
She said that the holy spirit told her to just sing English songs during that time since she couldn’t recall any twi or local music.
“When I’m filled with the Holy Spirit, I only sing in English.” There are quite a few of them in my possession. Because I was unable to attend school, I do not speak decent English; nonetheless, when I am forced to use the English language, I use whatever comes to mind. Fortunately, God helps people grasp what I’m talking about, and they’re pleased as a result,” she explained.
She made it plain that nothing on the planet’s surface would stop her from singing English songs.
Former member of the Pentecostal Church stated unequivocally that she sees no distinction between music labeled as worldly or secular by some.
She stated that some of these songs inspire her and that she loves listening to Kojo Antwi, Kwabena Kwabena, and Amakye Dede’s songs.
