A British police officer, Wayne Couzens, has been sentenced to life in jail for killing a marketing executive, Sarah Everard.
Couzens was sentenced to a whole-life in jail on Thursday, September 30, 2021, according to multiple British media reports.
The Met Police officer is said to have killed Sarah Everard after kidnapping her under the guise of an arrest.
He reportedly abducted Sarah, aged 33-year-old as she walked home from a friend’s house in Clapham on March 3, 2021. He is said to have strangled her.
The trial judge, Lord Justice Fulford, was quoted by BBC as saying ahead of the sentencing of Couzens that the case was “devastating, tragic and wholly brutal”.
The judge told the killer police officer “You’ve betrayed your family and there’s no evidence of genuine contrition.”
