Guinea’s coup leader, Col Mamady Doumbouya, has assured that a “union” government will be established in the coming weeks.
President Alpha Condé was overthrown on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
During a meeting on Monday, September 6, 2021, Col Doumbouya reportedly informed ministers who served in Mr Condé’s government that there would be no witch-hunt against former officials.
He said: “A consultation will be launched to set down the broad parameters of the transition, and then a government of national union will be established to steer the transition.”
The coup leader noted that ex-ministers could not leave Guinea and that they had to hand over their official vehicles to the military.
