Kumawood Actress, Christiana Awuni has shared a rather touching story on how the celebrity tag is adversely affecting most of her colleagues in actong industry.
In an interview on the Journey Show on Adom TV, which was monitored by MyNewsGhana.net Christiana Awuni recounted how she and Rose Mensah aka Kyeiwaa had to quit their second-hand clothing business because of the insults they recieved from other traders also in the same business.
“I remember Rose Mensah and I had to stop our second-hand clothing job business because the other traders were always hooting at us and calling us names anytime they saw,” she said.
Asked by the host Abena Ghana on why the other traders were hostile towards them, Christiana Awuni said that the traders felt threatened that might they snatch their customers.
“They told us that we were greedy because despite the money we were making from acting we still wanted to take away what they also earned from their business” she added.
She said that due to some of these things many actors who would otherwise have ventured into menial jobs have stopped because of the perception out there.Related Articles
As a result, she revealed that many people have been plunged into hardships.
She, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians to reorient the opinion of Ghanaian actors especially now that the movie industry business has slumped.
