A police constable based in Damongo in the Savannah region has been reported dead. The female police officer who was identified as Ms. Sandra Asiedu was believe to had been murdered by her boyfriend.
According to a release issued by the police signed by SP Sheilla Abayie-Buckman today, the police were in the process of engaging the family of the deceased officer. Meanwhile, it has also launched a manhunt for the suspect.
“A Police Constable (name withheld) has been found dead at her residence in Damongo in the Savannah region on 2nd August 2021. She was found in a pool of blood with wounds believed to be knife stabs. The body has since been deposited at the West Gonja District Hospital pending investigation. Her boyfriend is highly suspected and the police are on a manhunt for him”, parts of the statement reads.
“The police administration has also started the processes to inform the family of the deceased and assures that it will update the public on the matter”, it concluded.
Attacks on men in uniform is becoming an issue of concern. It started from the attacks and killing of two Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) officers on duty, then to the killing of Constable Emmanuel Agyemang who was escorting a billion van. Last week, a female police officer with the Effiduase Division in the Ashnati region was found dead in her car. The perpetrators are yet to be apprehended and prosecuted.
This is a clear signal that the new IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has a lot of work to do. Fact is crime rate generally is increasing and this has generated apprehension among the citizenry.
