For those who have been around for quite a while, the turn of the new millennium came with so many changes. In Ghana, the political landscape was also experiencing a significant change. This was mainly because after almost twenty years of PNDC/NDC government, there was a new government in place, one which was led by John Agyekum Kufuor.
It was also an era characterized by the upsurge of media outlets. Internet access was becoming increasingly easy, many independent radio stations were sprouting everywhere in the country. As a result of that, access to information was easy. This led to so many stories flying around and leaving the average person to choose between what to believe and what not to. Whiles some were true, others were more of mischief spiced with a little humor.
One of such stories was the very famous one which involved the then president, John Agyekum Kufuor where he was accused of having an extra marital affair with a white lady by name Gisselle Yazji, which produced a twin babies.
So rife was this story that on one occasion, some journalists vouched that they had spoken to the lady in question who promised to come to Ghana with the babies on a specific day. A number of journalists dashed to the Kotoka International Airport in anticipation of meeting her and scooping out some answers. Of course, she never showed up, neither did the babies, till this day.
Rubbishing it in a recent interview, the former president jovially said he was still waiting for the said lady to arrive with the babies. He said it was nothing but propaganda which was meant to tarnish his image.
