The Imperial College London has awarded businessman, Sam Jonah, for his outstanding contributions in business and earth sciences.
The College said Sam Jonah’s successes in earth sciences and business have inspired its staff and students.
“It is with great pleasure that I write to tell you that the Council of Imperial College London has resolved to confer on you the degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa in recognition of the outstanding contribution you have made to the world.”
“I am immensely excited to bestow this, our highest honour. Your successes in earth sciences and business are an inspiration to our staff and students,” portions of a letter signed by President of Imperial College London, Professor Alice P. Gast, informing Mr. Jonah about his award, said.
Samuel Esson Jonah is a Ghanaian businessman and the current Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
Mr. Jonah chairs the Boards of Equator Exploration Ltd, Scharrig Mining, Equinox Minerals, Uramin, Moto Goldmines Ltd and Range Resources Ltd.
He also serves on various other Boards including Transnet, Mittal Steel SA, Ashesi University, Standard Bank of South Africa, Lonmin, the Commonwealth African Investment Fund (Comafin), the Advisory Council of the UN Secretary General’s Global Compact.
Mr. Jonah is also a member of the Advisory Board of the London Business School.
