The National Democratic Congress(NDC) has promised to increase maternity leave for mothers from three to four months.
Also, new fathers are expected to get seven days of paternity leave.
This was disclosed by the Vice Presidential Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang at the party’s manifesto launch which was held in Accra.
The NDC intends to reduce to reduce the number of working hours for new mothers when they resume active work after their leave to not more than four hours a day.
She said “we will extend maternity leave to four months, we will limit working hours for nursing mothers to no more than four a day when they return and we will also require seven days of paternity leave for new fathers”.
