The first Ghanaian Cardinal of the Catholic Church, Peter Appiah Turkson has taken the debate of prophecies to another level, saying, the prophetic ministry is not simply a blind prediction of the future, a reason why no prophet was able to predict the coming of the coronavirus pandemic.
According to him, prophecy is a serious thing that God impacts in a few people to warn a nation about certain happenings in the future.
Speaking exclusively to Kwaku Sakyi-Aidoo monitored by MyNews, Cardinal Appiah Turkson said “prophecy is not quite the same as simply foretelling the future. Prophecy in character has to do with you know the commandment of God and you know the consequences of disobeying the commandments of God.”
He stressed “Prophets always come to warn us that if you proceed in a certain way, going against certain things, the consequences will follow.”
Many Ghanaians chastised self-acclaimed prophets in Ghana for not being able to predict the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic which has killed over 600,000 people, rather than always giving” doomsday” prophecies.
Cardinal Appiah Turkson who is based in the Vatican City in Rome said no prophet could predict the COVID-19 pandemic because prophecies are not just simply about seeing the future.
“The thing
Globallywe could have done something about it because it began in China and we saw how ravaging it was… we could have taken a cue and guard against it.”
According to him, the whole world took the virus for granted and that has been its bane.
In Ghana, the coronavirus has killed 153 people with a case count of 28,430. The number of recoveries stands at 24,901.
