The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked Teachers and final years students in the various Senior High Schools across the country to ensure they adhere to the various protocols in order to avoid COVID-19 as they start their examination.
Three Hundred and Thirty Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty-Seven are sitting for the West African Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Some West African countries like Nigeria which is also part of the countries that write the WASSCE have decided not to write this year’s exams due to the COVID-19 scare.
But Ghana has decided to write the exams because according to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo “education is key to the future of our country. We, therefore, must do everything possible even in the midst of a pandemic to guarantee the prospects our youth, protect their potential and thereby preserve our collective future”.
Nana Addo used the opportunity to remind teachers, students, and non-teaching staff and all stakeholders in the WASSCE to ensure that they are protected throughout the period of the WASSCE.
