Sipho Shaven, Ghana international, Sulley Muntari’s South Africa-based agent says his client is very keen to play in the Professional Soccer League in South Africa next season.
Muntari, who is a free agent at the moment is back in Ghana training with boyhood club, Liberty professionals after a short stint with Spanish side Albacete.
According to his agent Muntari is interested in playing in the South African league next season and has tasked his agent to speak to PSL clubs.
The South African league is one of the most exciting and branded leagues in Africa that pays its players well. And it would be in order if Muntari, 35, decides to have a shot in the PSL.
Muntari has played in Europe for most notably Italian City rivals, Inter Milan and AC Milan. He won the Champions League with Inter Milan and also played in England with Portsmouth.
Shaven speaking in an interview kickoff.com said he has the go ahead of the 84-match capped Black Stars player to talk to PSL clubs.
“He has given me a mandate to talk to clubs in South Africa. He is very keen to play in the PSL next season”, Shaven reveals to KickOff.com.
“I will be engaging with a few clubs in the next few days to see if there is a chance to bring him to South Africa next season.
“Remember, our league is well respected on the continent and a high-profile player will not turn down an opportunity to play in the PSL.
“He is currently training with Liberty in his home country to keep himself fit. He is a free agent.”
Clubs such as Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and SuperSports United are said to be the likeliest clubs Shaven will be speaking to.
Months ago, it was rumoured that Ghanaian giants, Accra Hearts of Oak have reached an agreement with Muntari to play for the Phobians.
This will be a big hit to their aspirations of bringing him back to play in the Ghana Premier League.
