Ghana and Crytal Palace forward, Jordan Ayew says he is blessed to have a father who understands football. Jordan’s father, Abedi Ayew Pele is one of Africa’s finest in the beautiful game. Abedi Pele, arguably the greatest Ghanaian player of all time plays a huge role in the success of Jordan Ayew.
Jordan Ayew, 28, in an interview with Sky Sports on Friday (3rd June 2020.) sung the praise of his father and said he can’t praise him enough for the impact he’s had on his career. “It drives me. I can’t give my dad enough praise. He’s unbelievable and I’m lucky to have a father who knows football.”
He also talked about the energy the contributions of his dad give him and his brother and how it compels them to do more week-in-week-out on the field of play. “My dad has given us so much, in everything, and not only to me, to the whole family.
“The only way we can say thank you is to perform week in, week out for him to be proud and that’s what we try to do”, Ayew told Sky Sports.
Jordan also disclosed that Abedi Pele doesn’t watch their games live because of anxiety. Hence, records them and watch playbacks. “He doesn’t watch the games live because he’s a bit too anxious, so they record them and he watches them afterward.”
Abedi who desires to see the best of his children gives Ayew hard assessment after games to keep him on his toes in every game. Talking about this, Jordan said “when he’s finished (watching the game), he briefs me a bit. If I’ve not done well, he tells me I’ve not done well. And if I have done well, he still tells me I’ve not done well.”
Jordan Ayew has been in fine form this season for Palace, scoring 9 Premier League goals and 1 assist to become the all-time top Ghanaian scorer in the EPL with 25 goals. He surpassed Leads great, Tony Yeboah with 24 goals.
