Best Rapper Alive, Okyeame Kwame born Kwame Nsiah-Apau has told Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central that he now wants to be referred as the ‘Best Ghanaian Alive’ because he can no longer compete with the likes of BET award winner, Sarkodie.
“When I was younger I felt I was competing so if you asked me this question 10 years ago I would have to being boasting about my rap abilities and so on. But now it’s not necessary because now I want to be the Best Ghanaian Alive.
“I want that when you hear Okyeame Kwame, it’s true I can really rap but I want that when you hear me you would imagine Ghana. I want you to see me as that slim guy who even loves Ghana more than Ephraim Amu. I want you to imagine me to be someone who dedicated his whole life to bring people’s attention to the love of the country.
“It’s no more a rap competition, that’s some 10 years ago and we’ve concluded that chapter long time ago. Today I can’t say I’m the best rapper alive and I’m even shy to say that. That’s the first reason and the second reason is about the new crop of rappers that we have now like Flowking, TeePhlow, E.L , Sarkodie and more of the boys are really dope rappers”.
The ‘Rap Doctor’ made these submissions in an exclusive virtual interview with Cape Coast’s finest radio personality Amansan Krakye when asked whether he still pride’s himself as the ‘Best Rapper Alive’.
He continued “And so if an old man like me still continue to pride myself as the best rapper alive and these boys decide to pounce on me and punch me lyrically no I can’t withstand that. We have done our quota so someone else should continue. Now we’re going to continue what Ephraim Amu left behind which is about patriotic music and tourism.
“So the young ones should bring the raps but when they grow they’ll realise it was not a competition but rather a contribution”.
