The governing New Patriotic Party, NPP, will today go to the polls to elect candidates who will represent the party in the 2020 elections.
The election is the second phase of elections in Constituencies where the NPP already has sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).
According to the leadership of the political party, the elections will be held at the various electoral areas to ensure that the Political Party adheres to social distancing protocols.
In all 374 aspirants are vying for positions in 168 constituencies. Men form the majority aspirants with 325 persons while women are in the minority with 51 persons.
Some 67 constituencies will acclaim their Members of Parliament because they are going unopposed. Kwadaso constituency, the primary has been slated for June 24, 2020.
Meanwhile, some delegates in Subin constituency have placed an injunction on the election in the Constituency because their names have been illegally taken out of the album.
The election will start at 7am and end at 1pm across the country.
President Akufo-Addo has reminded the NPP aspirants and their followers to prove that they are the custodians of Democracy. He indicated that the political party should be the winner on the day ie. there should be unity after the elections.
