GFA President Kurt Okraku, says it’s unfortunate that former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah went public with his salary disputes with the association.
The former Ghana coach is owed 5 months’ salary arrears to the tune of $185,000 from his time in charge of the national team.
Appiah has been outspoken in his demands for the money but the GFA President says the former Ghana captain’s behavior is unfortunate.
“Everybody knows, Kwesi Appiah knows the processes that are involved,” Kurt told Ghanaweb.
“He knows the GFA engaged him but we are not responsible for paying his salaries. The Ministry of Youth and Sports pays the salaries of our national team coaches, and they do it via the sponsorship from GNPC.
“There are processes that one has to go through; at times it does end quickly, at times it does delay but it’s unfortunate that he went public,” Kurt Okraku added.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports have already stated that they will settle Appiah’s arrears and have urged patience from the former Asante Kotoko captain.
