The social media giant Facebook has officially changed its name to Meta . In a statement made on Thursday October 28th , the tech giant stated that it was changing the name of the parent company in what could be termed a turbulent period for the company in recent years. However , other brands within the mother group are to retain their names . Such brands like WhatsApp , Instagram and Facebook App are to remain the same Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced on thursday that .the parent company’s name is being changed to “Meta ” to present a more robust future not limited to the social media spectrum . It is hoped that with this change of name the new Meta would be a good percussor to the ‘Meta Verse ‘ , the new virtual reality version of the internet . The organization aims to change the previous impression about it’s services while also laying the ground work for future social media usage .
