Asante Kotoko, winners of the Ghana Premier League, were knocked out of the CAF Champions League by RC Kadiogo of Burkina Faso. In a 1-1 aggregate result after Sunday’s second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium, the Porcupine Warriors were defeated by their opponents in a shootout. After edging Kadiogo by a score of 1-0 in the first leg, coach Seydou Zerbo’s team entered the second game as heavy favourites. Despite having a one-goal lead from the first leg, Kotoko unexpectedly lost the second leg 1-0 at home, making the aggregate score 1-1. The team from Kumasi was unable to redeem themselves in the penalty shootout that followed, losing the game on penalties 3-1. Due to this humiliating loss, Kotoko has been eliminated from the Champions League in the first qualifying round. SEND A STORY: Do you have a story for us or need a promotion / advertisement?
