Change the genre of your music or remain a local CHAMPION-Blakk Rasta to Fancy Gadam
The crowd puller of the north, Fancy Gadam has been admonished to change the genres of his music or forever remain a local champion and die of music just like others.
Outspoken Reggae Singer cum Radio Presenter, Abubakar Ahmed popularly known as Blakk Rasta, who gave the advice in a recent interview, observed that some musicians easily fade out of the system and are also unable to make it to the international scene because of the genres of music they produce.
“Fancy Gadam is my brethren. I love Fancy… he will need to study more music. Sometimes when you say this about people they get offended. The one who loves you will tell you that if you go in this direction it will not help you. I am not moralizing over him or raising myself above him, it is just a suggestion”, he disclosed in an interview he granted SVTV.
He observed that the north is endowed with a lot of good music that can travel outside the shores of the country reiterating that though the country is considered the oldest music originators the genres is not helping them gain international appeal.
“Don’t join the rank and file which is cheap music but do something that can put you on the international map”, he urged.
Blakk Rasta urged him to consider doing something local that will get him onto the international stage.
“The North has a lot of good music that Fancy Gadam can ride on to pick ideas from. Namely, Takai, Damba, Gonja, etc. So, Fancy Gadam has to infuse the various cultural elements in the North into his music. But what he’s currently doing won’t take him anywhere. He will only make all the noise in Ghana but he won’t go anywhere!”
