The dean faculty of law, Prof Lydia Nyankah has conscientized the movie directors in Kumawood on the law to assign roles to cast. Prof Lydia Nyankah at the Film Director Guild of Ghana (FDGG).
One day under the theme the film industry in Ghana changes and prospects disclosed that movie directors should read the laws of the country before assigning roles to the movie stars.
According to the professor, most of the roles, perpetuated by these movie acts infringe on the law of the land. most importantly, she tasked the directors to deviate from portraying crime in their movies.
The FDGG one day took place at the faculty of law Auditorium, KNUST. The event was witnessed by the majority of the movie directors in Kumawood movie stars and also stakeholders in the industry.
The professor in her statement touched on many issues in the movie industry most especially sexual harassment,right and responsibilities of actors etc. The chairman of the event, Mr Isaiah Kofi Appiah encouraged filmmakers to come together under one umbrella to boost the movie industry.
According to him, the movie industry is the 2nd largest market in the country and he is of the belief that it sustains all the TV networks, therefore, coming together as a united front could uplift the creative art industry in the country and strengthen the economy as a whole.
