The Kasoa Divisional Police Command has arrested 101 suspected criminals at four different suburbs of Kasoa in swoops organised in the early hours of Wednesday.
The criminals, mostly internet scammers, consist of both Ghanaians and some foreign nationals.
Thirty-three of the suspects were arrested at Obom Road, 31 at Adade while 30 were grabbed at Akweley and seven at Gomoa Nyanyano.
The police retrieved from the suspects 126 laptops, forty mobile phones, a pump action gun with eight live AAA cartridges and eleven wraps of Indian hemp.
Other items seized were nine passports, two Hauwei modems and a cash amount of GHC 334.
Commenting on the arrest, the Kasoa Divisional Commander of the Ghana Police, Supt. Stephen Kofi Ahiafatu said, “we had information that Kasoa is turning out to be the centre for internet fraud, and these persons had furnished large rooms where they have tables and computers lined up like you find in an internet centre”.
He noted they are processing the suspects for court while the embassies of the foreign nationals among them will be notified for further action.
