The outgoing Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Ken Yeboah has admitted his work in the region was as not too difficult as other areas but indicated that residents talk too much
“Here it’s not too difficult, but one thing I noticed is that people sometimes talk too much”.
COP Ken Yeboah succeeded COP Nathan Kofi Boakye as Regional Commander and was faced with issues of pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group, Delta Force which saw some residents asking for his transfer from the region indicating he was not on top of the issues.
But in a sharp rebuttal, he called on residents not to compare his approach to policing to his predecessor.
According to him, he has his own way of dealing with a situation when it arises and therefore comparing their approaches to tackling criminal activities is flawed.
“We are two different persons with different approaches to issues in the profession and remember that policing is not about personality but structures and strategy. I have a different approach to dealing with crime and achieve results”, he added.
Making a self-assessment of his tenure in an interview with Kwame Tanko on Angel Fm’s morning show in Kumasi monitored by MyNewsGH.com, he observed that though some previous commanders have accused some chiefs in the region saying they make work difficult he thinks otherwise.
His ultimate concern was how residents talk but applauded the power and respect of the Asantehene saying he made his job in the region so easy for him.
‘I sometimes don’t want to do such comparison but it’s an experience, you learn something from it. It is not a situation that we can’t do the job because comparing other regions, I can say that it’s very difficult working there. The Advantage in this region is that, because of the power and much respect the Asantehene (Otumfuo Osei Tutu II) has, there are some things his sub-chiefs listen and obey him as well. But in some other regions, youths are able to do whatever they like because there is no respect for traditional authorities”. He said
