Former President John Mahama has told President Nana Akufo-Addo that he will not protect his unclean legacy and unimpressive legacy.
In the event that President Akufo-Addo were to win reelection on December 7, 2024, he had threatened to have his legacy destroyed by the National Democratic Congress, the leader of the main opposition.
He, thus, urged Ghanaians whose names are not on the electoral roll to go out and register in the Electoral Commission’s ongoing limited registration exercise.
At a rally in Dobro after a visit to Blue Skies Limited, President Akufo-Addo said, “This is our election year, and the limited registration has started,” adding, “Anybody who hasn’t registered and is eligible should go and register.”.
“This is because your right to vote is your power,” the president explained.
Also, tge president urged Ghanaians that “when the time is up for the voting, our job is simple: the person I defeated and my work, since I took over, seems not to please him.”
“I can not hand over power to such a person,” he repeated, warning: “He will destroy whatever we have done when he comes.”
Rather, he said his deputy, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, deserves to be the next president.
“I am pleading with you to vote for the person I have worked with for the past seven and half years. I have faith in him and I know that he will come and continue the work I have begun as Dr. Mahamamudu Bawumia.”
In response to the president, Mr. Mahama posted on X, the former Twitter, saying, “I will not defend your ‘legacy’ of corruption, misgovernance, haughtiness, incompetence, a bankrupt economy, rising unemployment, and driving more of our people into poverty.”
