Ex-Ghana goalkeeper, Abukari Damba has urged the current goal minders to stand up to the World Cup challenge.
Kotoko goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen of KAS Eupen and St. Gallen’s Lawrence Ati-Zigi are the three shot stoppers in Otto Addo’s final 26 squad.
The trio are yet to taste game time at top national team activities with many casting doubt about their capabilities.
Damba however charges them to come to the party when called to duty.
“The main thing is the players accepting and living up to expectations, there is always one day in one’s life and that is it.
“The call up is now on their head, they are representing the Ghanaian populace in and outside the country, they need to live up.
“Because they deserve it, that is why they are there, it is a huge task, I agree.
“The first time you have such an opportunity, you will definitely not want to fluff it.
“And I’m hoping and wishing that these players will accept this mantle and hold their heads high, defend the flag of Ghana and of course make themselves proud.
“Their families proud and their values will go up, this is the biggest opportunity.” Abukari Damba told Radio Gold Sports.
The Black Stars will engage Switzerland in a final preparatory game in Abu Dhabi on Thursday November 17 before the World Cup.
