The chief of Barekese the capital city of the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Amoapem Brenya I has disclosed that his endorsement as a chief is to ensure that he put measures in place to protect both life of the people and properties of Asantehene at Barekese.
It is my duty and also I feel proud to protect the properties of my overlord King of Asanteman Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
It is also my pleasure to serve my people with peace, unity and in freedom since without peace and unity, my good intentions for Barekese cannot come to fruition.
Nana Brenya I made the assertion on Sunday November 13 2022 at his Barekese palace to celebrate the Akwasidae event.
The occasion attracted the various Zongo chiefs within the Barekese Community, subjects under the Barekese stool, the media and other high profile personalities who paid homage to Nana Amoapem Brenya I.
Nana Amoapem Brenya I expressed worry that though the occupant of the Golden Stool Asantehene deserves honor for installing a substantive chief of which he is the Nana Brenya I to help develop the town.
He stressed that instead of giving thanks and honor to Asantehene for what he done for the town a group of people allegedly in their quest to use Barekese to amass wealth rose against him (Nana Brenya I).
Alleging that the group failed to trace their history and how they immigrated to settle at Barekese.
According to Barekesehene as a chief he found it appropriate to forgive anyone who offended him from the past three years that he was installed as Barekesehene.
Nana Amoapem Brenya I took the opportunity to thank Otumfuo for his sharp interventions in the Barekese chieftaincy issues and assured to work with everyone in peace and unity to uplift the image of the town.
Barekesehene indicated that his mission and vision of becoming a chief is not to amass wealth nor impose himself on the people.
But rather he aimed at serving to promote peace and unity among the people as well as obeying the instructions and guidelines that Otumfuo have given him to rule Barekese to ensure peaceful coexistence among the people.
Nana Brenya I strongly believes that if no one is ready to give him the necessary peace to rule because of his truthfulness and transparent attitudes on earth, the good Lord who examines every heart will give him peace after he died.
Having made his points clear the chief reminded the people of Barekese to take about the advise that Otumfuo gave to them at the Manhyia Palace in August this year in connection with unlawful sales of lands and violence attitudes. .
Nana further charged them to take into accounts that if anyone Otumfuo’s advise, it simply means that the person has broken the Great Oath of Asanteman and for that matter the person would be deemed to face punishment by the customary laws.
My doors are opened for any residents who have issues on land challenges because l will not be in a position to plead on behalf of any offender on land issues at Manhyia Palace.
Because Asantehene has already made things clear to everyone who lives at Barekese, the chief concluded.
Stay tuned for more details of the Akwasidae.
