Asamoah Gyan, a legendary player for Ghana, has said that the country’s citizens are their own worst enemies as they prepare to compete in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The ex-Sunderland footballer has spoken out on the controversy surrounding the Black Stars’ selection for the 2017 FIFA World Cup.
When the Black Stars made their maiden World Cup participation in 2006, it was under his leadership that they scored their first goal in Germany.
He was appointed captain of the team before the 2014 tournament, the only time Ghana did not advance out of the group stage.
Six of his goals for Ghana came in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 FIFA World Cups, making him the continent’s all-time leading scorer.
