A leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr Richard Amoako-Baah has asked elders of the party to caution President Akufo-Addo against making inappropriate public statements.
He says anytime the President speaks without a script he goes overboard to make statements which are unpresidential.
Dr Amoako-Baah is saying this in response to statements made by President Akufo-Addo in Kumasi, which has attracted public backlash.
President Akufo-Addo while reacting to “no roads, no vote” demands made by residents of Kwabre on Kumasi-based Otec FM, said he is unfazed by such threats, adding that they can go ahead and vote for the opposition National Democratic Congress.
This comments, Dr Amoako-Baah, however, believes was unworthy of the office the president occupies.
“We have left the President to be talking anyhow, why? Anytime he is left on his own, it brings issues and no one is cautioning him.
“It was an opportunity for the President to score a political point with his response. If I were around him, I would have tapped him on his shoulder to calm down and made him know it was a trap”‘, he said.
Dr Amoako-Baah has therefore asked handlers of the President to always ensure his public speeches are scripted to save him from making unguarded statements.
