The issue to fight galamsey is getting out of hand irrespective of how hard the government and the mineral commission apply force to cub the process.
Many people both media men and civilians have raised their voices that the chiefs should add their voices to the fight against galamsey and today, the Asantehene has descended on his subchiefs for being at fault in that if chiefs are not involved anyone can illegally destroy their farmlands. The great King in his speech hit so hard on the chiefs that they shouldn’t exempt themselves, they are all at fault for allowing illegal mining to tear apart their lands, cocoa farms and water bodies. He again said none of the chiefs has reported to him the illegalities in their respective towns. But as for the politicians, he will summon them later because if the gold is mined they don’t stay in the country and who evacuates them outside the country? These were said by the Asantehene to his chiefs.
