Countries are ranked based on several factors and one of them is governance. This year, Chandler Good Governance Index released the tanking of countries according to which country is being governed in the best or worst manner. The criteria Chandler used to judge include: leadership and Foresight, Robust Laws and Policies, Strong Institutions, Financial Stewardship, Attractive Market Place, Global Influence and Reputation, and Helping People Rise. Below are lists of the Top 10 Sub-Saharan African countries, and their position in Africa, and Globally.
10. UGANDA
The 10th best-governed country in Africa is the East African country with a population of 45,741,000 and a GDP per capita of US$817. Uganda has an index score of 0.386 and ranked 84th globally.
9.TANZANIA
Next is the lower-middle-income country of Tanzania. It has a GDP per capita of US$ 1,076 with a population of 59, 734, 213. It is ranked 9th and 83rd globally with an index score of 0.39
8.KENYA
The Safariland comes next with an index score of 0.4, ranking 8th in Africa and 82nd globally. Kenya has a GDP of US$1,838 with a population of 53,771,300
7.NAMIBIA
The Southwest African country places 7th and ranks 78th globally with an index score of 0.411. Namibia has a GDP per capita of US$4,211
6.GHANA
Next is the African Country of Ghana placing 6th and ranking 73rd globally with an index score of 0.418. Ghana has a GDP per capita of US$2,329
5.SENEGAL
Senegal follows with an index score of 0.433, ranking 6th in Africa and 71st globally. The West African country has a GDP per capita of US$1,488
4.SOUTH AFRICA
The giant in southern Africa comes 4th with an index score of 0.453 ranking 70th globally. South Africa has a GDP per capita of US$5,091
3.BOTSWANA
Botswana is third with an index score of 0.488, ranking 60th globally. The landlocked southern African country has a GDP per capita of US$6,711
2.RWANDA
The central African country of Rwanda is second with an index score of 0.499 and ranks globally as 55th. Rwanda has a GDP per capita of US$798
1.MAURITIUS
On top of the list is the Island country of Mauritius with an index score of 0.578 and ranking 38th globally. Mauritius has a GDP per capita of 8,623US$.
