Erastus Asare Donkor a journalist at multimedia whose documentary, “Destruction for Gold” has recieved many applauds, has revealed that the galamseyers are at the Nimri Forest again.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday 6th October 2022, he wrote;
“This is the entrance to the Tano Nimri Forest reserve. I just got this message. The Deputy Minister for Lands in charge of forestry, Benito visited the site in the forest about four days ago.”
According to Erastus Donkor, the Deputy Minister instructed forestry commission with assistance from Samartex to erect a barrier at the main entrance to the site.
“The miners just broke it last night and entered the forest again.” Erastus added.What are we waiting for to clear them from the forest.
The comments of Erastus comes as a background to the order that was issued to Akonta Company to stop it’s mining activities at the Tano Nimri Forest. Following that, even President Akufo-Addo met with chiefs and MMDCES to discuss how to curb the menace of galamsey.
