Polls from 2024: We are constructing the NDC as a war machine. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has bragged about accomplishments made possible under his direction.

He claimed that during his leadership, the party was able to make up lost parliamentary seats and lower the party’s one million vote disadvantage from the 2016 election, which led to a hung parliament.

In a September 28 interview with Radio Gold, the chairman, who is running for reelection, claimed that the current executives had collectively carried out the mandate given to them in 2018, making sure that Parliament had a Speaker who, for the first time in history, was not a member of the ruling party.

As the party’s leader, I can affirm that we were able to accomplish all of this thanks to my efforts and leadership. In the situation the party is in now, we think that if we make the plans we are making, we will have incident-free branch elections for the first time. For regional and constituency executives, I bow the head. Some people haven’t slept at home in the last three months. They had been zigzagging between Koforidua and Kumasi.

“We are creating the party as a war apparatus that we can use to win wars, with the attention and work to improve the party’s structures that we have been able to obtain branch executives and are now left with constituency executives.

“We are developing the party as a war apparatus that we can be able to employ to win the 2024 elections,” he added, putting emphasis on the work being done to improve the party’s structures. “We have been able to gain branch executives, and it is now left with constituency executives.”

The NDC has developed into the nation’s most alluring political party, according to Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo. He based his claim on the so far calm conduct of the party’s internal election processes.

The party’s chairman referred to his ability to unite the party as a “weapon” that every political party requires in his remarks on his reelection campaign.

He said that they were able to bring together all party members, Joshua Alabi, who ran against former president John Dramani Mahama for the position of NDC flagbearer in the run-up to the 2020 elections.

After suffering a record one million vote disparity in the 2016 elections, he claimed that such involvement was crucial to the party’s victory in the 2020 elections.

“We assigned tasks to each candidate who challenged John Mahama for the position of flag bearer.

Through that unity of purpose, we were able to perform well at the 2020 polls. We never fell short in that vote. It was the Supreme Court that dismissed our appeal. Because of this, we have stated that we would not appeal to the Supreme Court in 2024, but instead, we are bolstering the party’s support at the local level “said Ofosu Ampofo.

According to sources, the NDC Chairman and General Secretary Asiedu Nketiah would compete for the position of Chairman in the party’s internal election on December 17.

The NDC is also attempting to unseat the ruling New Patriotic Party, which is similarly set on retaining power.

The ruling New Patriotic Party, which is likewise determined to end the eight-year cycle of power turnover between itself and the opposition party, is the target of the NDC’s attempt to retake power.
