Akwasi Addae Odike has rendered an apology to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the entire ‘Manhyia’ palace. During an interview on a popular television station in the country, Onua TV with Captain Smart he says he apologizes to the entire kingdom of Ashanti if the statement he made was not right. But to him, he did not intend to ‘insult’ the kingdom but was fighting against illegal mining happening in Ghana, especially Kumasi. Explaining it further he says Kumasi is full of natural resources and therefore needs to be protected by the leaders of the Ashanti Region.
Akwasi Addae explained to the people of the Ashanti Region some of the effects this illegal mining could cause on the water bodies. He says if care is not taken the Region would seek support from the Volta Region to supply them with water needed for domestic purposes. He was making a reference to his statement made on Oyerepa FM which lead to the closure of the station concerning illegal mining in the country.
