Johnnie Hughes, host of TV3 New Day show has sent some messages to Ken Ofori Atta, Minister of Finance about some happenings in the Finance Ministry and why Ken Ofori Atta is out of the country currently.
According to Johnnie Hughes, Ken Ofori Atta is out of the country again to receive medical care. Johnnie Hughes sent strong words to Ken Ofori Atta because he did not stay in the country for his medical treatment. This is because Ken Ofori Atta thinks that the medical facilities in the country are not fit for him. He added that Ken Ofori Atta has mismanaged the economy to the extent that government cannot find any funds to make our hospitals a better place to visit when one ill.
“Good morning to the Finance Minister. Wherever he is, attending to medical care, good morning to you. Our hospitals are not fit to treat you so you have traveled outside like the speaker of parliament. If our leaders will learn to make our situation better here, they will all stay here and go to Korle Bu, Komfo Anokye and Efia Nkwanta Hospital. But when they are sick, they pick their planes and go. So when you(people) are dying, they don’t care. And we have some of you defending this rubbish” he said
He also added that Ken Ofori Atta is doing what the speaker of parliament, Alban Kingsford Bagbin did. It could be recalled that Alban Kingsford Bagbin travelled outside the country severally to treat himself. Some people thought that he was sabotaging the government because parliament needed his presence in parliament to enable parliament approve or disapprove the budget peacefully.
This comes after the ministry of Finance was caught in some irregularities by the Auditor General. The auditor General’s report reveal that three persons have been receiving salary for the past two years without any work done at the ministry of Finance. The three have been paid for not doing any work at the ministry at a total sum of ¢1,112,896,00.
Johnnie Hughes believes that the blame must be put on Ken Ofori Atta because he is the one who always gives financial clearance to government for recruitment.
