Dr. Nyama Tamakloe, the former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, believes that Asamoah Gyan will be a terrific addition to the Black Stars ahead of World Cup 2022. Asamoah, who is 37 years old, has been away from the National Team for three years. His last match for Ghana was against Tunisia during the Round of 16 of the 2019 AFCON. It was in that match that he also scored his last goal for Ghana which was crucial in the game.
Asamoah who had not been a part of any club for two years now in an interview with BBC stated his interest in playing in the World Cup later this year. This drew lots of comments from people who were either in support or against the idea. According to the now Hearts of Oak Board Member, Asamoah Gyan still scares defenders and would be a fantastic addition to the team.
These were his words, “I think Asamoah Guan has the skills because when he is running with the ball, defenders fear to come close to him. He has the skills and tactics but the strength to play becomes the problem. If he can work on that, he would be a fantastic addition to the World Cup.
