Akwasi Addai Odike, a businessman and politician in Ghana, claims he knows the identities of the men who attempted to kill him in his Kumasi office.
On Monday, August 22, gunmen stormed the office of a former presidential contender, causing damage and taking hostages.

His accusation that some Ashanti Region chiefs were involved in the widespread criminal activity of galamsey prompted the violence.
He reportedly also urged young people to take action and pressure their villages’ heads to clarify their position on combating illicit mining.
After his remarks outraged the local chiefs, he was exiled from Manhyia.
Additionally, the Chiefs demanded that Oyerepa FM/TV shut down by this coming Friday, August 26.

The founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP) said in an interview on Thursday, August 25 that one of the guys who assaulted him was the driver for Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
This motorist, identified by Akwasi Addai Odike as 40-40, apparently goes by that moniker.
“I’m in my hideout now. They hired thugs to come and kill me in my office and I know them. All the boys I saw them. One is the driver of Otumfuo. I know all of them. I know where they operate from. I have reported the matter and the police are now manhunting them.
“I saw 40-40 who is the driver of Otumfuo. I can’t give out his real name because that is what he is affectionately called,” Akwasi Addai Odike told Citi News.

The former presidential contender has said that he disagrees with the decision of the Kumasi Traditional Council notwithstanding his high regard for the body.
He claims to abhor violence and refuses to engage in actions that might potentially cause harm. He’s opted to wait patiently for Otumfuo’s return to Ghana so that the situation may be resolved peacefully.
