Asamoah Gyan, a former Ghana captain, claims he still wants to play for the Kumasi Asante Kotoko despite his physical incapacity.
He missed his opportunity to play for Kumasi Asante Kotoko a few years ago due to injury, but now that he’s well, he thinks he’ll be back.
The Accra boy in me has always been strong. And then Legon Cities called me, and I didn’t want to go to any other city. He remarked on the Dentaa Show, “Even though I was talking to Kotoko, I had wanted to be in Accra.”
It goes without saying that I’ll be playing for Kotoko once I’ve been in footballing shape and can participate in competitive games.
In November of 2020, the former Sunderland star could have realized a lifelong ambition by signing with Asante Kotoko. Instead, he signed with Legon Cities.
Kotoko attempted to sign Ghana’s all-time highest scorer Asamoah Gyan, but negotiations broke down before he made his final decision to sign with Legon Cities.
His career with Legon Cities was cut short due to injuries and a decline in form, and he saw little action on the field before his contract was cancelled.
Asamoah Gyan recently told the BBC that he hopes to compete in the 2022 FIFA World Cup with the Black Stars.
