The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by private universities as viable alternatives to state tertiary institutions. State tertiary institutions are unable to accommodate the high number of pre-tertiary students and adult students who are interested in furthering their education but are unable to enroll in public schools. Private universities offer a solution to this problem.
When he spoke as the guest of honor at the inauguration of Academic City University College, a private University at Haatso in the Greater Accra Region today, Wednesday, August 17, Dr. Bawumia praised private universities. Academic City University College is located in Ghana.
He disclosed the government’s plans universities in the five regions that will have a concentration on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and he urged the tertiary institutions to continue to partner with the government in this regard to accelerate industrial growth, which will improve the living conditions of Ghanaians and contribute to economic growth.
