The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was hit with tragic news as it lost two of its executives within 24 hours. They include the northern regional chairman Alhaji Abdulai Mobila and the constituency organiser for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Bleboo Richard.
The sad news was annouced on the Facebook page of Vanerse Justice Mbobo on Tuesday. He wrote;
“NDC losses two executives today
Alhaji Abdulai Ibrahim Mobila, Northern regional NDC chairman and
Bleboo Richard, Ayawaso West wuogon constituency organizer.
May your souls rest in peace Comrades,”
He however did not give details of the deaths.
CitizenOne gathered that the northern Regional chairman died at the Tamale Teaching Hospital where he was receiving intensive care. According to a statement by the family of Mobla and Nyab Tugulana sighted by CitizenOne, the late Mobila was burried same day at the Tamale Central Cemetry, Zujung
“The national democratic congress on the advice of the Mobla family and Nyab Tugulana announces to the general public the passing to glory of our father, national democratic congress regional chairman, Tugu Yapalsi Naa Alhaji Abdullai Ibrahim Mobla.
The sad incidence happened on the afternoon of Tuesday, 16th August, 2022 at exactly 2:45pm at the intensive care unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
May Allah’s special mercies be his portion as he starts his new journey”, the statement reads in parts.
In a related news, the Northern Regional Executive Committee of the NDC has elected Ali Adolf as acting chairman of the party in the region.
Per the constitution of the party, anytime an executive reigns or dies, his deputy is required to act on his stead until next congress. But where there are more than one deputy, the executive committee shall elect one of them to act.
Ibrahim Mobila was deputized by two namely Ali Adolf and Alhaji Velim. When the election was cpnducted on Wednesday, Ali Adolf won with over 90%.
Also communicating this, Mbobo Vanerse put it this way;
“NDC Executive Committee has elected hon. Ali Adolf as acting Northern regional chairman.
He defeated 1st Vice Chairman Vielim with over 90% of the votes cast.
Per article 49: 3. the NDC’s constitution, where there are more than one vice chair or deputies, the party at the level shall elect one of the vice chair or deputies to occupy the vacant executive position until the next election.”
In other news, the NDC will start mass registration of new members in the Ashanti region on 18th August. The two weeks exercise will begin the branch elections in the region. Immediately that is done, the party will move to Eastern region to carry out the same exercise.
