The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially launched a new project dubbed the African Super League which will see 24 teams from around the continent compete for a top prize.
The competition which is set to be the biggest on the continent aside the African Cup of Nations, will see serious and heavy sponsorships and investments for the clubs that will be selected to be part of this competition.
It was announced that 8 teams from each region on the continent (East, West, South And North) will be selected with a maximum 3 from each country. Should Ghana be a name among the mix of countries to provide the teams then either both of or one of Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak will be selected to represent the nation in the tournament.
The competition will boast of a $100M prize pool money to be distributed to the clubs that participate. The winning club will get up to 12 million dollars of the prize money with each Federation receiving 1 million dollars.
The competition is set to start in the 2023-2024 season.
