The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George Nartey has asked the Minister for Communication and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful to rescind her decision on the deadline for the SIM card registration.
The SIM card re-registration exercise which commenced on October 1, 2021, is expected to end on July 31, 2022.
Hon. Sam George stated that the timeline scheduled for the close of the registration exercise is unrealistic and will hamper Ghana’s digitalization program.
He stated that the intention to end the sim re -registration exercise as stipulated is a threat to the telecommunication networks and even potential investors in the midst of an economy that is already shivering.
The Ningo-Prampram MP further explained that “this in itself is counter he mentioned that some Ghanaians won’t be able to register their cards, adding that it will be unfair to block the SIM cards of such people.
